What does a derma stamp do?
A derma stamp uses fine pins to create tiny micro-channels at the skin's surface. These micro-channels are part of the microneedling process and can help water-based skincare products absorb more effectively while supporting smoother-looking skin and improved-looking texture over time.
What's the difference between the 120-pin and 140-pin Adjustable Derma Stamps?
The 120-pin stamp has a convex head designed for more targeted contact and smaller or contoured areas. It adjusts from 0.25 to 2.0 mm.
The 140-pin stamp has a flat head that provides broader, even coverage across larger areas and adjusts from 0.25 to 3.0 mm.
Both are reusable manual microneedling tools for face and scalp routines. You can compare both options in our Derma Stamp collection.
Which Derma Stamp should I choose: 120 or 140 pins?
Choose the 120-pin convex head if you prefer a more targeted stamp for smaller or contoured areas. Choose the 140-pin flat head if you prefer broader coverage across larger areas.
What depth should I use at home?
For at-home face and scalp routines, stay at 0.5 mm or below. Although this stamp physically adjusts up to 2.0 mm, the maximum setting is not a recommended at-home depth.
Can I use the Derma Stamp on my scalp?
Yes. The stamp can be used as part of both face and scalp routines. For scalp use, Rosemary Hair Serum can be applied after stamping.
Can I use the Derma Stamp on my nose, neck and around my eyes?
The stamp can be used on areas such as the face, nose and neck, with extra care on smaller or more delicate areas. Around the eyes, stay on the orbital bone area and do not stamp the eyelids or too close to the eye. Use a shorter depth and light pressure on delicate areas.
Does derma stamping hurt?
How it feels varies by person, depth, pressure and treatment area. Shorter settings generally feel milder. Because the Derma Stamp is manual, you control the pressure of every press.
Can I use serum with the Derma Stamp?
Yes. For face routines, a simple water-based serum such as HYAH Serum can be used as part of your routine. Avoid potentially irritating actives immediately around microneedling. For scalp routines, Rosemary Hair Serum can be applied after stamping.
What's the difference between a derma stamp and a derma roller?
A derma stamp is pressed vertically against the skin and lifted between placements. A derma roller has a rotating head that moves continuously across the skin. Read our Derma Stamp vs. Derma Roller comparison for a closer comparison.
What's the difference between a Derma Stamp and a Microneedle Pen?
The Derma Stamp is a reusable manual microneedling tool that requires no batteries, charging or replacement cartridges. The Beautimate Microneedle Pen is motorized and uses sterile, single-use cartridges. See our Microneedling Pen vs. Derma Stamp guide for a more detailed comparison.
How do I clean the Derma Stamp?
Clean the pins with 70% isopropyl alcohol before and after each use and allow them to dry completely. Store the stamp clean and dry with its protective cap in place.
How many times can I reuse the Derma Stamp?
We recommend replacing the stamp after approximately 6–10 uses, or sooner if the pins appear bent, dull or damaged. Do not share your stamp with another person.
